Jul 19, 2010, Thai airways and Toursim Thailand offer special air fare rate
The Tourism Authority of Thailand is to join forces with Thai Airways International and over 30 European travel partners to offer promotional air-fares and special packages to Thailand between 15 July – 30 September, 2010.
The promotions are part of the “Thailand Today” campaign launched by TAT and THAI to celebrate their 50th anniversary as well to revive Thai tourism after the political crisis last May.
Between 15 July – 30 September, 2010, Thai Airways will provide 50 seats at special fares per flight on 11 routes from London, Zurich, Rome, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Madrid, Moscow, Oslo, Athens, Stockholm, and Paris. These special fares are designed to attract repeat visitors and brand-loyal tourists from these key cities.

Within 2 weeks, a major Buddhist holiday is held on 26 and 27 of July 2010.
Asarnha Bucha Day (Asanha Puja Day) is particularly one of the most sacred days in Buddhism. It is aBuddhist festival which typically takes place in July, on the fifteenth day of the waxing moonof the eighth lunar month. It commemorates the day on which Lord Buddha delivered his firstsermon called “the Dhammachakapavattana Sutta” to his first five chief disciples at the DeerPark in Benares more than two thousand five hundred years ago.
Wan KHAO PHANSA is on July 27 , 2010.PHANSA" is the Buddhist rainy season. The rain retreat or Buddhist Lent is marked by two major religious events : one for the entering of the rainy season called "WAN KHAO PHANSA" (วันเข้าพรรษา) and for the exit of the rainy season called "WAN OK PHANSA".
The KHAO Phansa day is the beginning date that Buddhist monk will lives in the temple and not allow to travel or overnight in non-temple place.
Thai celebrate by visit the temple for merit making . In the morning, people will go to the temple and offer the food to the monk after that morning sermon will be provided by Buddhist monk. This is a good time for a family are gathering and see one another. During the day , there are decorated WAX parade which can be a small or national competition. The vehicle will carry a wax which is in dedicated design mostly relevant to Buddhist stories. At Ubon rachathani province is the best place to observe the parade. In evening, people come for pay homage and listen to the sermon before process Wientien ceremony. Wientien is walk circle around the main chapel for 3 times with lighted incense stick to commemorate the Lord Buddha, the Drama (Buddhist bible), and the Buddhist monk.

Jul 5, 2010, Thailand Wins Four Out of 10 Tripadvisor Awards for Top Asian Beach Destinations
New York, May 10, 2010 — The results of the TripAdvisor Traveler's Choice 2010 awards are in, and the beautiful islands of Thailand brought home four out of 10 awards for beach destinations in Asia.
The islands of Ko Lanta, Khao Lak, Koh Phangan and Koh Samui were ranked #3, #4, #5 and #6, respectively, on the list of "Top 10 Beach & Sun Destinations in Asia." With these honors, Thailand became the most-awarded Asian country in the category, besting Vietnam, the Maldives and the Philippines.
In other award categories voted on by TripAdvisor users, Thailand fared equally well. In "Top 10 Culture & Sightseeing Destinations in Asia," the Thai cities of Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Ayutthaya all made the list-with Bangkok also being named to the "Top 10 Food & Wine Destinations in Asia." And the islands of Koh Lanta and Koh Samui were both named the "Top 10 Romance Destinations in Asia" and the "Top 10 Relaxation & Spa Destinations in Asia," with Chiang Mai also awarded the latter.
"We are immensely proud to have Thailand recognized so extensively in such diverse categories by the members of the TripAdvisor community," says Srisuda Wanapinyosak, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) - New York. "It is particularly gratifying for Thailand to be awarded for its many facets, including beaches, cultural sites, food and spas."
TripAdvisor, which features traveler reviews, advice and opinions of vacation destinations around the world, attracts more than 9 million unique visitors per month.

Jun 20, 2010, Thailand selected ‘Best Tourist Country in the World’ in Norwegian Awards.
Once again, Thailand has been voted the ‘Best Tourist Country in the World’ by the 2009 Norwegian Grand Travel Award, organized by Fagbladet Travel News – an independent Norwegian travel trade magazine. His Excellency, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, Mr. Jullapong Nonsrichai, together with Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Scandinavia, Mr. Manit Boonchim, jointly accepted the prestigious travel trade award on behalf of the Kingdom of Thailand. It is the seventh consecutive year that Thailand has won the prestigious title in the 14 years that the awards have been given. Thai Airways International won the 2009 Norwegian Grand Travel Award for Best Intercontinental airline, the fifth consecutive year that Thai Airways has won the award.
