Shangri-La Hotel is next to the Tak Sin Bridge and Saphin Tak Sin BTS Station, on the East bank of the Chao Praya river- a very convenient commuting point. Near the BTS station, there is a local community with an open air market which offers a variety of fruits, foods, snacks, and local eateries. To experience the local livelihood a wandering though the market is highly recommended.

Although the hotel is about 20 years old, it is in amazing condition. It has two main buildings and two very long and beautiful lobbies which were recently renovated. However, on negative aspect of this hotel is that parts of the Krung Thep wing have not yet been renovated. It might look a bit old and not quite deserving of the price you will pay (not to say that it is not good, but just to compare it to other hotels).

Therefore, request to be roomed in the building that has been renovated.

The positive side is it has a wonderful Thai restaurant inside called Sala tip which provides very good food in a beautiful setting.
