Bangkok travel guide : Mee interview
1. Please introduce yourself
I was born in rural Thailand but grew up in Bangkok. It is somewhat difficult to tell you what kind of person I am. To summarize from what my friends and customers have said about me. I am open minded, friendly and an active person. I love many activities and associate with others. When I was at school I joined the diving association of my university. I took classes for months to train to be a marine archaeologist. At that time, I had the opportunity to learn diving skills and to explore the underwater world. It was a lot fun and very memorable.
I am also easy going and get along with people of all age groups. I was an au-pair for an America family for a year. The kids loved me and we still keep in touch. I just saw them last December (2006).
Another personality trait is that I am a very compromising person. This type of personality is very common amongst all Thai people.
2. Why have you chosen to become a tour guide?
I dreamt of being a tour guide since I was an under graduate senior. I believed that this career would provide me with the opportunity to do what I love. One is to practice English and another is to exchange my culture with people from around the world.
3. What are some of the places you like to visit?
Grand Palace. Many people said you are a tour guide and it is your duty to visit the Grand Palace. I do not know what to say except that every time I visited the Grand Palace it is as if I am on holiday too.
4. What do you do during your free time?
I go swimming, read books and snorkel or go diving.
5. What complements do you get most from your customers?
Good service, friendly and informative.
6. What would you like to share with tourists that would help promote Bangkok and Thailand?
Bangkok and Thailand are wonderful places to visit. Besides sightseeing, I can also help them by making their trip smooth, save time, and provide in-depth information as I have lived here for more than 20 years.
7. Tell us about your impressions of your trips or anything related to your clients.
I never had any complaints since I worked as a tour guide. Besides getting good tips, I have received complementary letters from my clients. Sometimes, my clients called my boss (operations manager) and told him or her, what a wonderful trip they had with me. It is very delightful to know that I am a part of someone's happiness.
8. What do you tell tourists to visit in Bangkok?
Unthinkable! The Grand Palace is a must visit. Not just to go there to see it, you need to have someone who loves the place to experience it.
