Flight to Bangkok
Because Bangkok is an international hub, finding a flight to Bangkok is always quite simple. No matter where you live and how far you are, you can find the flight to suit your needs.
From North America
If you live in North America, it is very convenient to find a flight to Bangkok. Recently, Thai Airways International has started running a direct flight from New York to Bangkok daily and direct flights to Singapore before connecting flight to Bangkok are offered by Singapore Airlines. Both nonstop flights take approximately 19 hours from New York.
East coasters not opting for either of the nonstop flights offered by Thai Airways or Singapore Airlines can catch a flight to Bangkok from any of the international airports in New York, Washington D.C. or Boston. These flights will likely stop in London, Amsterdam, or Dubai.
For those traveling via the west coast of North America, departure cities to Asia include Los Angles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Vancouver. West coast flights will have stopovers in Tokyo, Narita, Taipei, Hong Kong, or Seoul.
Flying to the other side of the world to Southeast Asia might seem a bit intimidating at first, but you need not worry- it's not as bad as you think. All international bound flights offer free wine and some other alcoholic beverages, full meals and snacks, and a wide array of television and movie selections. Drinking is recommended in only slight doses- while a drink or two might relax your nerves a bit and make traveling easier, a few too many can make an easy trip a nightmare.
If you have trouble sleeping on the flights and have a long layover in any of the earlier mentioned cities, most airports offer sleeping rooms for hourly rent to catch up on some much needed shut eye. Other Asian ingenuities include oxygenization rooms which are designed to help you recover quickly from jet lag, as well as the infamous Asian massages and aromatherapy- all available in the airport.
Some cities like Seoul, allow visitors to leave the airport for a quick tour around the city. If you have the energy, these half day tours can be a great way to spend your layover.
No matter how you spend your layover, it is advisable to make sure you stay hydrated throughout your travels and attempt to adjust to the destination's time zone as quickly as possible by sleeping at appropriate times.
