What is Traditional Thai Dance?

Traditionally, this kind of dance was a form of entertainment performed in the royal court for the monarch. It was called La korn nai, and was performed by ladies in many stories of legends and literature. There, a female could play as actors and actresses. Once trained as an actor, they would play only that character.

Another type of Thai dance was called la korn nok or la korn chatri, which was performed by commoners, where actors would be both men and women.

What is identified as Thai Dance?

The performer slowly moves to imitate the movement of lady, or gentlemen when they have different attitude and expression (the character she is playing). There are singers to sing along to tell the story. Therefore, the performer will just move in a unique way.

The custom is fabulous; the performance uses a lot of color, and the audience will be able to tell about the importance of the player based on her beauty and the sophisticated look of the custom.

How is Thai Dance performed?

Thai dance is started since the players' young age. It begins with physical adjustment. They need to practice to make their body flexible, almost like Yoga and elasticity. They need to be able to sit with their legs crossed, curve their hand, bend their back to the ground and stand with half straight one leg for a long period. .

Then, they will need to learn about posture. They need to remember each step and expression for the dance, which is the difficult part. The players need to practice, train and rehearse until they will not miss any part of the performance.
