Loy Krathong Festival : Itineary
Day 1: 24 Novmber 15 – Bangkok-Sukhothai (-/L/D)
Leave Bangkok in the morning about 7.00am then drive to Khao Kho district located in Petchabun province in the lower northern region of Thailand. It takes about 420 kms far from Bangkok. Along the way, stop at Wat Muang. Wat Muang is home to The Big Buddha, also known as Phra Buddha Maha Nawamin and Mahaminh Sakayamunee Visejchaicharn, which is the tallest Buddha statue in Thailand and the ninth tallest in the world.
drive to Phisanulok province in the morning, first visit the Wat Mahathat to see the Thai come to warship the Pha Phuttachinnarat, the most beautiful Buddha statue in Thailand . Visit Ja Thavi Folk Museum. This is definitely the place for those wishing to learn more about the Thai lifestyle. Step inside a group of Thai pavilions and explore a private collection of antique items representing Thai rural life. The museum was established by Sgt. Maj. Dr. Thavi Buranakhate, who is recognized as a leader in the area of sculpture and indigenous art preservation. He is renowned for his knowledge on Northern Thai folklore.
In addition, he is the owner of a Buddha Casting Foundry located just opposite the museum.The Folklore Museum received the Excellence in Tourism Award from the Tourism Authority of Thailand in 1998and is located on Wisutkasat Road (Sanam Bin Road), approximately 5 kilometers from the town center. Then, drive to Sukhothai province. Stay in a hotel in Sukhothai.

Day 2 : 25 Novmber 15 – Sukhothai – Loy Kratong Festival on a full moon day (B/L/D)
Wake up early morning, do Tak Bat (offering food to the monk) with locals. Tak Bat is a part of the Thai culture and a good karma. This is the best time to learn and see how Thai making a merit and preserve their culture. We believe that making a merit is one way to go to heaven. Then, back to the hotel to have breakfast have a rest a bit before learn how to make a Kratong. Make your own Kratong to prepare tonight to flow along a river as Thai belief.
Then drive to Sukhothai Historical Park to make a visit beautiful temples. Back to the hotel. Leisure time. In the evening, go to see light and sound presentation at Wat Mahathat. Then, flow your own illuminated kratong along the river. Thousands of candles and incent sticks are lit to thank the River goddess. Enjoy the festival. Back to the hotel. Lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner at historical park and enjoy light and sound.

Day 3: 26 Novmber 15- Sukhothai – Lopburi – Bangkok (B/L/-)
Travel back to Bangkok. 4 hours drive for the first stop. On the way stop at Lopburi province. Visit Phra Prang Sam Yod , the most famous Landmark of the province which was built as a former Hindu Shrine. The tower made of laterite and sandstone and decorated with classic stucco. There are monkey living near by at Sar Phra Khan.Then travel back to Bangkok.
