Cambodia language : Khmer is the official language of Cambodia and is used all over the country except in some tribal areas where local native languages are used. It is spoken by some 7 million people living there, roughly 90% of the population. The Cambodian language, Khmer, is part of the Mon-Khmer family and has its origins in Sanskrit and Bali.

Language slangs in each region are slightly different but normally they are mutually understandable. Based on the dialect of the capital city of Phnom Penh, Modern Khmer is used throughout the country and widely understood by its resident. Much of Khmer vocabulary which used in literature, the military, and administration is borrowed from Sanskrit, or Bali. Due to years of French colonial rule, numerous French words have been consolidated into the language as well.
