Thailand or officially named, The Kingdom of Thailand, is a country in Southeast Asia, bordering Laos and Cambodia to the east, the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia to the south, and the Andaman Sea and Burma to the west. Thailand is the only Southeast Asian nation which has never been colonized by European powers. It is a constitutional monarchy whose current head of state is HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, KING RAMA IX.
As its location in the tropics, the weather in Thailand is generally hot and humid with a tropical climate and temperatures typically range from 19 to 38 degrees C (66-100 F). Though, Thailand’s geography allows visitors to find suitable weather somewhere in the country throughout the year.
The capital city of Thailand is Bangkok, locally called as ‘Krung Thep’. It’s the country's principal administrative and commercial center. Bangkok is also a prime tourist destination, and the major tourist gateway to the rest of Thailand and even South East Asia.
Most of people in the country speak Thai as it is the official language, while English is also spoken and understood much in the areas of business and tourism.
The national religion is Buddhism. Thai Buddhism ranks amongst the highest in the world. The remaining of the population are Muslims and Christians respectively. However, there is absolute freedom of religion in Thailand. They can live together in peace and harmony.
