The name golden Triangle is because this is where the borders of Thailand, Burma, and Laos convene to form the Golden Triangle. It is also where the two great rivers are adjoined; the two rivers are the Mekong and Salawin River. This city is also the gate into Indo-China and the Yunan Province in the south of China

While on your tour you must stop to visit the main market area, here you are sure to find many great gifts. Visit Wat Phra Kaew, where the famous Emerald Buddha (in Bangkok) was founded in A.D. 1434. The Emerald Buddha has a long history and is said to have originally resided in ANGKOR WAT.
