Doi Tung place is a famous well known as a sustainable development project belong to the current King’s Mother. 20 years ago (now = 2007) , the King’s Mother came here and said that “I’d like to plant the tree in order to recovery this forest”. She was truly to her word. Now, this area has plenty of trees. People in this area are no longer involve to opium. Her Majesty project has got rid of the poverty and has created hundred of small project to help people have job and do not leave their mother land.

You will get to know more about information of her majestry royal project at the same time you will have a chance to visit the King’s mother residential palace which is incredibly beautiful and full of knowledge that you can learn and perhaps you can take some idea for decorate your home or garden.This trip is combined with visiting Laha hill tribe and Akha hill tribe village along the way.

Itinerary

Half Day Doi Tung and Hill tribe village at Chiang Rai : Itinerary

Operation time : 08:30 to 12.00 A.M.

                           : 01:30 to 05:30 P.M.

Visit Doi tung 2,000 meters above sea-level, enroute visit a Lahu Hill tribe village and an Akha Pa Mee village. In the past, the forest area around this area was destroyed by shifting cultivation. Until 1987, this Development Project has been established according to the King Mother’s initiative. Visit Mae Fah Luang Garden, with flowering plants of various colours. Drive on to Wat Phrathad Doi Tung a sacred hilltop shrine, regarded as the holiest sanctuary by the residents of Chiang Rai and nearby provinces. The Wat was built in A.D. 911 and it is believed that the left collarbone of Lord Buddha is enshrined in the twin Pagodas.
